Jehovah's Witnesses And The Paranormal
by Cold Steel ini understand that the jehovah's witnesses are paranoid when it comes to the paranormal.. how far do the roots of this paranoia go?
has anyone ever had any personal paranormal experiences or know of anyone who has (first hand)?.
and what are some of the more popular stories that get retold in jw circles?.

I dropped from 12, sometimes 15 a month to about 5 hours a month. We had an elder/MS meeting and when they dismissed the Servants, they asked me to stay over for a few minutes. They asked me about my situation and I told them whatever I told them.
The truth was that I was burnt out from all the responsibility. Meetings, personal study, parts, field service and I was just tired, but I didn't tell them that. I just said I had some overwhelming personal problems.
I told them I was going to step down, even though they really didn't want me to. The announcement was that I had been deleted.
Eventually, it lead to my inactivity.
Did it hurt? Yes.
Was it a relief? Yes.
Was I confused about how much of this belief system was still in my heart? Yes.
One of my friends in the congregation is an ex-elder and while he is still active, he feels that the burden of not having to "perform" month, after month, after month, is a great relief. No more 30 mins early, no more waiting for the last one to leave the hall to lock up, no more conducting the book study, meetings for field service. No more committees, no more nothing.
Wherever this leads you, will be wherever it leads you.

one is a douche that i wouldn't trust as far as my 4 year old can throw him.
the other seems to be a decent therapist and he's really intelligent but i don't see how he can't see it's a freaking cult??

I plan to start a thread concerning this issue. I do not know when, because my time on this forum is limited to a couple of days.
I hope to show that most issues concerning mental health begin with thoughts concerning our own "self image" but our focus as humans tends to be on the image that others have about us, which should have nothing to do with who WE are.

Are you an athiest and why?

never thought i would come to a day that i did not believe in a god.
believing in a god is like believing in super man, it would be great if he existed but well it's just a fairy tale.

an eminent uk engineer is suggesting building cloud-whitening towers in the faroe islands as a "technical fix" for warming across the arctic.. scientists told uk mps this week that the possibility of a major methane release triggered by melting arctic ice constitutes a "planetary emergency".. the arctic could be sea-ice free each september within a few years.. wave energy pioneer stephen salter has shown that pumping seawater sprays into the atmosphere could cool the planet.. the edinburgh university academic has previously suggested whitening clouds using specially-built ships.. at a meeting in westminster organised by the arctic methane emergency group (ameg), prof salter told mps that the situation in the arctic was so serious that ships might take too long.. "i don't think there's time to do ships for the arctic now," he said.. "we'd need a bit of land, in clean air and the right distance north... where you can cool water flowing into the arctic.".
